Cliff Lift – Listed Grade II

Built as a private venture in 1910 to connect the hotels and boarding houses of the East Cliff to the Marine Sands Station (which closed in 1926). The lift was taken over by Ramsgate Borough Council in 1919. Closed by Thanet District Council in 1990 it was subsequently renovated and re-opened in 1999. One of two (listed) cliff lifts in Ramsgate, the other at Royal Esplanade on the West Cliff and dating from 1926 is currently closed.
