| Ramsgate Borough Council’s 1963 foray in to the use of systems building for public housing. This area of Ramsgate, generally known as Newcastle Hill, was flattened as part of the 1950s slum clearance scheme which also saw the demolition of the area between King Street and Hardres Street. Newcastle Hill, in particular, had a reputation as being as being a ‘rough area’ from the late C19th onwards. |
